Version of February 26, 2026
These Terms of Use (hereinafter "Terms") define the terms and conditions of use of the Mio mobile application (hereinafter "the Application" or "Mio"), published by TTT — Thomas Poumarède, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel), SIRET 525 331 153 00045, APE Code 6201Z, located at 15 Route de Gard-sign, 29840 Porspoder, France (hereinafter "the Publisher").
Mio is an application that aggregates publicly available information about the origin of consumer products. It allows users to scan barcodes to obtain aggregated information about a product's country of manufacture, accompanied by a confidence score reflecting the reliability of the identified sources.
Use of the Application implies full and unreserved acceptance of these Terms. The User acknowledges having read these Terms and expressly accepts them upon first use of the Application.
In these Terms, the following terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them below:
These Terms define the conditions under which the Publisher makes the Mio Application and associated Services available to Users, as well as the rights and obligations of the parties in this context.
Mio's mission is to enable consumers to access information about product origin in a simple, neutral, and factual manner. The Application aggregates information from public sources and automated analyses. It does not make value judgments about products or companies and is neither a certification body nor a regulatory authority.
The Application is available for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Use of the Service requires a compatible mobile device (smartphone or tablet) with an Internet connection and a functional camera.
The Application is reserved for natural persons aged sixteen (16) years or older. Minors under 16 years of age are not permitted to use the Application.
The Application operates without creating a user account. The User is anonymously identified by a Technical identifier (UUID) randomly generated on first launch and securely stored on their device (Keychain on iOS, encrypted SharedPreferences on Android).
This identifier allows the User's scan history and contributions to be associated with their device, without collecting personal identity information (name, email, phone number, etc.).
The Application offers the following features:
All features of the Application are accessible free of charge and without any limit on the number of scans. The Application contains no advertising and offers no in-app purchases.
The Publisher reserves the right to introduce paid offerings or access limitations in the future, subject to informing Users and updating these Terms in accordance with Article 14.
The information displayed in the Application comes from multiple sources, including:
Each piece of information is accompanied by an indication of its source(s) where identifiable.
Each piece of information regarding a product's origin is accompanied by a confidence score, expressed in three levels:
The User can view the score details (exact percentage, sources, and reasoning) by accessing the product detail page.
The information provided by the Application is communicated for informational purposes only. It does not in any way constitute a certification, guarantee, or official attestation of product origin. Mio is a public information aggregator, not a verification body.
The Publisher endeavors to ensure the accuracy and currency of the information but cannot guarantee its completeness, precision, or timeliness. The information may differ from the labeling on products, which is the sole responsibility of manufacturers and distributors. If a public source contains erroneous information, the Application may relay it.
The User acknowledges that the information provided is the result of automated analyses and compilation of public data, which may contain errors or inaccuracies. The User is advised to exercise their own judgment and, in case of doubt, to refer to official manufacturer information or the relevant authorities.
The Application uses artificial intelligence services to search, aggregate, and analyze publicly available information about product origin. When a barcode is scanned and the product is not already referenced in the database, product information (name, brand, category, barcode) is transmitted to a third-party artificial intelligence service (currently Google Gemini) for enrichment.
This automated processing concerns exclusively product data and not the User's personal data. The User's Technical identifier is not transmitted to artificial intelligence services.
The results of automated analysis are always accompanied by a confidence score and identified sources, to enable the User to assess the reliability of the information.
Users may contribute to improving Application data through the built-in reporting features. Possible contribution types include: reporting an incorrect country of origin, suggesting a correction, confirming existing information, reporting missing information, or adding a photograph (e.g., a photo of a product label).
Contributions are reviewed by the Publisher, who reserves the right to accept, modify, or reject them. The Publisher is not required to act on a contribution or justify its decision.
By submitting a contribution, the User warrants acting in good faith and providing information they believe to be accurate. Abusive, repeated, or manifestly erroneous contributions may result in restriction of access to contribution features for the device concerned, without prejudice to any legal proceedings the Publisher may initiate.
When a User attaches a photograph to a contribution, it is uploaded and stored on the Publisher's servers (Cloudflare R2). The User warrants having the necessary rights to the submitted photographs and grants the Publisher a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use these photographs in connection with the Service.
Any business, manufacturer, or distributor wishing to dispute the information displayed regarding one of its products may submit a rectification request to the Publisher by email at contact@getmio.app.
The rectification request must be accompanied by supporting documents establishing the accuracy of the claimed information (official documents, certificates of origin, attestations, etc.).
The Publisher undertakes to examine any rectification request within a reasonable timeframe and to update the relevant information where appropriate. The Publisher reserves the right to maintain the original information if it deems the supporting documents insufficient.
The Application requires access to the device camera to enable barcode reading. Camera image processing is performed locally on the User's device (via Apple Vision on iOS and Google ML Kit on Android). No video stream or image captured by the camera is transmitted to the Publisher's servers as part of the scanning functionality.
The User may revoke camera access permission at any time through their device settings. Without camera access, the barcode scanning feature will not be available.
The Application, its architecture, source code, interfaces, databases, algorithms, graphic design, text, images, and all other elements composing it are the exclusive property of the Publisher or its partners and are protected by French and international intellectual property laws.
The "Mio" trademark, logo, and all associated distinctive signs are the property of the Publisher. Any reproduction, representation, use, or adaptation, in any form whatsoever, is prohibited without the Publisher's prior written authorization.
The User benefits from a personal, non-exclusive, and non-transferable right to use the Application, within the strict framework of these Terms. This right does not confer any ownership rights over the Application or its components.
The User agrees to use the Application in accordance with its intended purpose and these Terms. The User shall in particular refrain from:
Any breach of these obligations may result in restriction of access to the Service for the device concerned, without prejudice to any legal proceedings the Publisher may initiate.
The Publisher undertakes to implement all reasonable means to ensure the proper functioning and availability of the Application. However, the Publisher does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
The Publisher shall not be held liable for:
The Application being free and without commitment, the Publisher's liability is limited to cases of proven fault and direct damages.
The Publisher shall not be held liable for failure to perform its obligations in the event of force majeure, as defined by Article 1218 of the French Civil Code and French court jurisprudence.
The Publisher collects and processes personal data in connection with the use of the Application, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (loi Informatique et Libertés).
The terms of collection, processing, and protection of personal data are detailed in the Privacy Policy, accessible from the Application and constituting a separate document from these Terms.
The User has the right to delete their data (scan history, contributions, statistics) directly from the Application settings, via the dedicated page on the Publisher's website (getmio.app/delete-data), or by email to contact@getmio.app.
By using the Application, the User acknowledges having read the Privacy Policy and consents to the data processing described therein.
The Publisher reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Amendments shall take effect upon publication in the Application.
In the event of substantial amendments, Users will be informed by a message displayed in the Application upon their next use.
Continued use of the Application after the amendments take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. In case of disagreement, the User may cease using the Application and request deletion of their data.
The User may cease using the Application at any time by uninstalling it from their device. Uninstallation results in deletion of the Technical identifier stored locally.
To delete the data associated with their device on the Publisher's servers (scan history, contributions, statistics), the User may use the "Delete my data" feature available in the Application settings, or make a request via the Publisher's website or by email to contact@getmio.app.
The Publisher may restrict access to the Service for a given device, without notice or compensation, in the event of:
For any question, request for assistance, or complaint, the User may contact the Publisher:
The Publisher endeavors to respond to any request within five (5) business days.
In the event of an unresolved dispute, the consumer User may have recourse to a consumer mediator free of charge. Contact details for the relevant mediator will be provided upon request.
If any provision of these Terms is declared null or unenforceable under any law, regulation, or final court decision, it shall be deemed unwritten, without affecting the validity of the remaining provisions, which shall remain fully applicable.
These Terms are governed by French law.
In the event of a dispute relating to the interpretation, performance, or termination of these Terms, the parties shall endeavor to reach an amicable resolution. Failing this, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts under ordinary rules of jurisdiction.
In accordance with the provisions of the French Consumer Code, the consumer User may bring proceedings before the courts of their place of domicile or the Publisher's registered office.
These Terms take effect as of February 26, 2026.
By using the Mio Application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms of Use.
